Alvaro Alberto Ariza, "Al", age 80, of Woodstock, GA, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 16, 2022. Al was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, the son of the late Nicolas and Carmen Ariza. He emigrated to the United States in 1967 with his young wife and children settling in Newark, Delaware. He was a natural salesman and a gifted engineer, and he went on to have a successful career at Hercules, Inc., Himont, Inc., and Southern Petrochemical. His career eventually moved him to Georgia in 1987 where he resided until his passing.

Once he retired from the corporate world, he and his wife, Sally, ran a successful property maintenance company until his retirement. Al took
immense pride in the successes of his children, and especially of his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his generous nature to family, friends, and employees, and his love of many of God's creatures whether four-legged, furry or feathered.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Durzynski-Ariza; his son Carlos and daughter-in-law Amaia Roca; Daughter Rita and son-in-law Kelly Connell, his son Robert and daughter-in-law Brandy Alexander; his former spouse and mother of his children, Diana De Castro; grandchildren, Iban Ariza; Fiona and Daniel Connell; Joey, Nicolas, Olivia, Emma, Sophia and Alexander Ariza; his sisters, Miriam Ariza, Gloria Perez, Carmen Peña, Maria Mejia; brother Alonso Ariza; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. And lastly by his beloved cat, Charlie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 490 Arnold Mill Rd, Woodstock, GA
30188. Entombment will be held privately.
