Amy Michele Zimmerman, age 48 of Woodstock, GA passed peacefully on September 13, 2018, with her husband John at her side.
Amy grew up in Paulding County until the age of 17, when she moved to Roswell GA in 1986 and attended Lassiter High School. It was here that she was swept off her feet by her high school sweetheart. Amy married John in 1990 and Courtney was born in 1992 with Benjamin to follow in 1996. Amy home-schooled both of the children for Kindergarten and then threw herself into their school lives. She loved being involved in PTA and the activities that Courtney and Ben were passionate for; sports or reading, theater or lizards. She worked for Fellowship Bible Church several different times, managed a physical therapy office, helped in a financial investment company and then found the job of her lifetime with the North American Mission Board.
Amy's smile was synonymous with her name. Her kindness towards others was consistent throughout her life. She LOVED fireworks. She loved to travel, she loved to plan, and she most of all, she loved to plan travel. Amy loved to care for her son especially with all 13 broken arms, she loved to both see her daughters accomplishments in theater as well as planning trips to watch Broadways with her. She couldn't have been more proud of the generosity and care that her son displays to so many, and she boasted of the incredible loyalty and work ethic of her daughter. Amy loved being a part of Roswell Community Church, she wanted to grow and be challenged, and she was a prayer warrior. She wanted to live out how grateful she was that God walked with her through the hardest times. Amy was challenged in many ways in her life but she always came back to the knowledge that God loved her.
She battled cancer from February 2012 - September 13,2018, and her battle with cancer was a significant part of these last few years. She was the strongest person that I had ever seen go through pain like she had. She was gracious to others while enduring pain, she was thoughtful to the ones that cared for her, she was encouraging to the people who visited her...she was grace, beauty, mercy, calm, and all with the same smile that we all knew. I was honored to love and care tor her for 28 years of marriage!
Amy is survived by her husband John, her daughter Courtney Michele, her son Benjamin, her parents Michael and Pat Ness, her brother David Ness, her brother Eric Ness, and her sister Jamie Rodriguez, and a plethora of extended family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lakeside Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, September 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Bible Church (480 W. Crossville Rd. Roswell, GA 30075).
