Obituary

Sadly, our beloved, Anita Constance Betts, 94, of Woodstock GA, passed peacefully on December 24, 2024. Anita was born on October 17, 1930, to Pearl and Calvin Ford in Amarillo, TX.

Anita graduated from Presentation Catholic High School in San Francisco, CA in 1948. Shortly after graduation she married her first husband Robert F. Bray. Together they had three children, Michael, Patrick and Susan. During these years Anita was involved with her church, PTA and Scouts. Anita enjoyed being married, raising her children and making a home for her family.

Anita helped at a boarding house in San Francisco during the war with her mother and Aunt. Later in life, Anita worked for the Bell Telephone company as an operator, eventually advancing to an office position.

Anita married Charles E. Betts on February 2, 1974. In her own words, "Charlie was my love, friend and husband, we were older and wiser when we met." Anita also gained a second daughter from this marriage, Janice. Anita enjoyed traveling and camping with Charlie in their RV, along with fishing, and sitting around campfires. Anita traveled overseas to Australia and New Zealand, took several cruises and truly loved her trips throughout the US, Mexico and Canada.

Anita was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles E. Betts and Robert F. Bray along with her sons Michael T. and Patrick J. Bray.

Anita is survived by her daughters Susan T. Hawlk (James) and Janice Betts-Morrow (Ronald). Anita truly loved all her combined family, including the ones she adopted throughout her lifetime. She loved history, literature, theater and politics. Anita never met a stranger, loved talking with people and hearing their stories. She was a good listener and always had sage advice to give. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a positive influence on her family and provided them with treasured advice they carry with them long after her passing.

In Mom's own words, "Life is short, Enjoy, Love Well. Believe in Something and Be True to Yourself!"
