Anthony "Tony" Wuest was born in Detroit Michigan August 3rd, 1943. He passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday April 6th, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Tony grew up in Detroit, Michigan and relocated his family to Georgia in October of 1971.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Kathy Wuest, his son Tony Wuest, daughter in law Susan Wuest, his daughter Ami Hutcheson, son in law Dennis Hutcheson, and his 3 grandchildren Jacob Hutcheson, Joshua Wuest, and Jessica Hutcheson, his sister Rose Hammel, brother in law Dan Hammel, his sister Delores Gabriel, brother in law Fred Strozeski, sister in law Ila "Ginny" Long, brother in law Rene Legris and many nieces and nephews.
Tony came from humble beginnings and served as an altar boy for Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where he also attended school. Early in adulthood, Tony took loving care of his mother and niece before marrying and moving to Georgia. After moving to Georgia, Tony attend Mercer University and received his bachelors degree in Accounting. He then went on to work for Hewlett Packard for 28 years in accounting and finance, before retiring in 2000.
Tony was a father figure for several nieces, nephews and family friends. He was always there to provide love, guidance, and support for anyone who needed it. He spent his free time in loving dedication to his family by serving as a baseball and softball coach for his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing senior softball for the Cherokee County Parks and Recreation, watching sports and gardening after retiring.
There will be a viewing Monday April 12th from 11 am to 2 pm, with a service at 2pm. The family will be receiving friends after the service, details to be announced at the service.
