Audrey B. Mason went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday April 13, 2024, after a brief illness.
Audrey was born on May 9, 1939, in Tazewell, Tennessee to parents Rev. Dewey Gilbert, Sr. and Anna Mae Minton Gilbert. She attended Claiborne High School and met her husband, Clyde, at Woolworth in 1958 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. They would marry in 1961. Clyde's career would take the family all over the south until they moved to Georgia in 1986, finally settling in Woodstock in 1989.
Audrey loved the Lord with all her heart. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Woodstock and loved her Sunday School class. Over the years she volunteered in the clothes closet and preschool classes at church. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Audrey was an avid reader and loved tending to flowers and plants around her home and loved working in the yard. She loved to bowl and participated in several bowling leagues and recorded perfect scores on numerous occasions. She was the type of person who you could go to for comfort, advice, or to confide in, knowing she would keep it to herself. Genuine and quick-witted, you could always count on Audrey to give you her honest opinion.
She was a staunch advocate for her family and friends; kind, caring, selfless, and ready to provide her love and support through joys and sorrows.
She is preceded in death by her devoted grandson, Bradly Magee; sisters Henrietta Brooks and Marine Gilbert; brothers James, Carson, Dewey (Junior), and Hollis Gilbert; and brother-in-law Jack Brooks.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Clyde Mason; children Jackie (Don) Magee, Kimberly Mason, Scott (Isobel) Mason; grandchildren Beth (Joshua) Nugent, Laura (Jeremy) Adams, Dylan Mason, and Owen Mason; great grandchildren Makenna and Remi Nugent, and Barrett Adams; sister Pauline Gilbert as well as many nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Audrey's memory.
