Obituary

Becky Lynn Martin passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her beyond words and countless people whose lives were better because they knew her.

Born in Tacoma, WA, Becky moved to Lake Oswego, OR, during her school years, where she met and later married Tom Martin, her husband of 57 years. Together they raised two sons, Michael of Atlanta, GA, and Andrew (wife Cristina) of Fairfield, CT. She was also a very proud and loving grandmother to Charley Martin of Charleston, SC, and River Martin of Fairfield, CT, as well as a loving and doting dog-mother to Hunny, Harpua and Daisy.

More than anything, Becky was defined by her kindness. She was a genuinely good soul who cared deeply for others. Whether it was family, a friend, a child, a stranger, or an animal needing a little extra love, Becky had a way of making them feel cared for. That same spirit guided her through 18 years of teaching young children, a role perfectly suited to her patient and loving nature.

In addition to her family, children, and animals, she loved the color blue, Louis Armstrong, daffodils, robins, and really good hot dogs cooked the Becky way. Becky enjoyed golf, tennis, skiing, hiking, and just about any adventure that came her way. She went fly fishing, whitewater rafting, hiked Black Butte Mountain and, at age 75, went skydiving. Apparently jumping out of a perfectly good airplane was still something she needed to check off the list.

Her faith was also an important part of her life. Becky believed deeply in God and was an active member of the Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Marietta, GA, creating many long-lasting friendships through her time teaching Sunday school, as a member of the Altar and Flower Guilds, amongst many other roles.

A celebration of life service will be held at St. Peter and St. Paul in Marietta GA on Saturday, Oct 3rd, 2026 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, she asked to be remembered by donating to one of the two following organizations which carried special meaning for Becky.

MUST Ministries is an organization that provides services to nourish the whole person, including food and clothing, to those in need. Donations can be made in Becky's name under the Tribute section on their website, found at this link: https://tinyurl.com/WeLoveBecky.

Pekay Goldens is a dog breeder and kennel that transforms the lives of dog owners through happy, healthy goldens and expert service in Dahlonega GA. Donations can be sent through the mail to PeKay Goldens, Attn: Kitty, 2057 Seven Mile Hill Rd, Dahlonega, GA, 30533.

Becky will be remembered for her kindness and caring for all people and pets. She will be missed deeply, but her family would like to give thanks and gratitude for having been blessed to have her in their lives as she shared her bright light with us all. Becky left this world a little better than she found it - simply because of the way she treated the people in it. She will be loved eternally.
