Carl Edwin Wilson, age 86, of West Columbia, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 1, 2026, after an extended illness. He was born on August 13, 1939, in Gainesville, Florida to Marvin and Gertrude Wilson. He had one brother, Gene Wilson of King, N.C. that preceded him in death.

Carl was married to his loving wife, Ann Wilson, for 59 years (who preceded him in death on February 4, 2022).

Surviving is his son Paul Wilson, daughter Theresa (Byron) Edens of Ringgold, G.A., Grandson Philip (Emily) Edens and great-grandson Rhett of Lafayatte, G.A., his granddaughter, Danielle (Josh) Good of Chickamauga, GA.

Carl (known as Papa to his family) spent the first part of his life in Florida before responding to God's call to children's ministry which led him and his family to West Columbia, S.C. to complete his Bachelor's Degree from Columbia Bible College. He continued his education and completed his Master of Arts in Ministry from Temple Baptist Seminary, Chattanooga, TN and was later licensed to the Gospel Ministry. He served several churches as a children's minister and as a supply pastor.

He loved sharing arts and crafts with children over the years and family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas. He especially loved family times with his grandchildren and great-grandson Rhett (who called him "Papa Carl").

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Fairview Baptist Church, Rossville, Georgia at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. Jim Bennett and Rev. Byron Edens leading.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts of love be given to the Children's Ministry of Fairview Baptist Church, 108 Jenkins Rd., Rossville, GA 30741.
