Carmen Soraya Rivera, 64, of Ellijay, GA passed away on Oct. 18th, 2024. Ms. Rivera was born 7/12/1960 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was an amazing mother and grandmother who gave selflessly, not only to her family, but to everyone around her.  Her family, friends, and community will always feel the sorrow left in the wake of her passing.

She enjoyed going to musicals with her daughters and grandmothering her son's two children. She was an avid solitaire player who taught us all to play kings in a corner and dominoes with ruthless abandon. She recently retired from a long career as a pharmacist, having earned her degree at the University of Puerto Rico. In her free time, she enjoyed volunteering and helping people through St. Jude's and St. Vincent de Paul.

She is survived by her parents, José and Carmen Rivera, her siblings, José, Antonio, Àngel, Esteban, Carmen, and Teresita, her children, Daniele, Dianne, and Cody, and her grandchildren, Madi and Jackson.

She was a light to everyone around her, giving all of her love and life to her friends, family, and people she just met. Her faith in Jesus shone through her every day.

"The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed." Psalm 34:17-18

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude's or St. Vincent de Paul.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 3:00 at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church (490 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA. 30188).
