Carol Ann Girardey, age 74, a longtime Florida resident, passed away peacefully after a courageous nearly four-month battle with glioblastoma.

Carol was born on January 22, 1951, in Danbury, Connecticut, to the late Edward Girardey and Lucille Phelps Girardey. She spent much of her professional career as an executive assistant, where she was known for her dedication, organization, and strong work ethic. After retiring, Carol found her greatest joy in the quiet comforts of life—her family, the beach and especially the companionship of the animals she loved so deeply.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sharon Kahrs; her son, Douglas Eriquezzo; and three beloved grandchildren, Aaron Mason, Christopher Eriquezzo, and Malorie Eriquezzo.

She is survived by her beloved son, Aaron Eriquezzo; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Eriquezzo; her grandchildren, Mark (Emma) Eriquezzo, Matthew (Abigail) Eriquezzo, and Cassidy Eriquezzo; ten cherished great-grandchildren; and her nieces, Shay Pfeiffer and Alyssa Kahrs. Her stepfather Charles Zarcone and many friends she leaves behind.

A formal service will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, or to honor Carol's memory, the family kindly requests donations be made to a local animal rescue or Humane Society. Carol had a lifelong love for animals, especially her dogs, who brought her great comfort and joy.
