Charles Vardaman Kennedy of Mableton, GA went to meet our Lord on July 28th, 2024, at the age of 88. Charles was preceded in death by E.P. (Red) Kennedy (father), Lillie Faye Kennedy (mother), Mary Faye Kennedy Herndon (sister), and Virginia Wardlaw Kennedy (wife).

Charles was born in Amory, Mississippi on May 2nd, 1936, and graduated from Amory High School in 1954. After marriage in 1959 to Virginia Wardlaw, Charles moved his family several times as a function of work and work advancement—including TN, AL, NC, TX, and finally, GA. Charles was a hard-working man driven by providing the best life possible for his family. Charles worked until his retirement in the heavy equipment repair and trucking industries serving in various management, operations, and hands-on roles. Charles was highly skilled in all mechanical matters, excelling in his work—following a long-standing and proud Kennedy family tradition.

In his retirement years, Charles was a dedicated father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather supporting family events—always willing to prioritize his family and time with his family. He loved and adored his family. Charles was a faithful member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church and was instrumental in keeping his beloved Amory High School class of 1954 together, organizing many annual reunions in Amory, MS.

Charles is survived by sons: Richard (Laura) and Brent (Linda); grandsons: Jacob (Jana) and Ryan (Julie); great-granddaughter: Lily Kennedy (Jacob/Jana); nephews: Phil Herndon (Sheila) and Scott; niece: Susan Herndon Gordon (Doug), and long-time friend/companion Evelyn Warneke of Hattiesburg, MS.

Charles will be missed, and we will look forward to joining him in heaven one day. "The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him." Proverbs 20:7 (KJV)
