Charles Michael "Mike" Little, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on August 12, 2022 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. Mike was born on April 29, 1956 in Meridian, Mississippi. He was employed as a Journeyman Printer for twenty years before becoming a Registered Nurse for thirty years prior to his retirement in 2020.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James Ollie Little, Sr. and Betty Jean May, and his brothers, James Ollie Little, Jr. and Lonnie Little. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon Little, of Kennesaw; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Lauren Little of Blue Ridge, Georgia; his daughter, Melissa Little of Roswell, Georgia; his adopted daughter, Kayla Ivie of Taylorsville, Georgia; and his sister, Charlotte Pearson of Muskegon, Michigan. Other survivors include Henry and Debbie Murphree of Mechanicsville, Virginia; Mike and Ginger Murphree, Shawn and Erin Murphree, Daniel Murphree and Derek Murphree, all of Jackson, Mississippi; Susan Miley and Dennis Murphree, both of Bartlett, Tennessee; David W. Pou of Chelsea, Alabama; many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Mike's greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first. His children remember him fondly as a man who could be very talkative and outgoing in conversations with others but when he shared his fatherly guidance with them, he spoke with directness and wisdom that never failed to command their attention.
As a nurse at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia, Mike was a beloved leader who was passionate about his involvement in training other nurses. He is remembered by his colleagues at Floyd as a calm, influential mentor whose guidance over the years helped many young nurses achieve their full potential.
Mike was known as a gifted jack of all trades who was often called upon to use his expertise to tackle a wide range of projects for his family and friends. He was always willing to help when needed and there are many people who have benefitted from his handiwork. There was never a job that was too large for him to tackle, especially when it came to his daughter. In addition to his skills with a toolbox, Mike's culinary skills were also very impressive. His banana pudding and lemon ice box pies are legendary and have long been highly requested items when other people plan menus for holidays and other special occasions.
Mike was an avid Star Wars fan and there are also unsubstantiated rumors that he may have been a big fan of The Simpsons, Married with Children, and yelling at basketball officials. He also enjoyed playing golf and spending time at the beach with his family, most notably in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Little's family requests that any donations in his memory be made to the giver's local Humane Society or any other animal rescue organization.
