Cheryl Anne Van Buren, 78, was born August 31, 1946, to William Moravetz and Virginia Drost Moravetz in Irwin, PA.  Cheryl was the youngest of two children.  She and her husband Mark C. Van Buren were married 43 years.

Cheryl graduated from Penn Joint High School in Claridge, Pennsylvania in 1964. She went on to attend Clarion State College in Clarion, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1967 with a degree in Science Education with a major in French.

Cheryl moved to Atlanta in 1974 and worked as a court reporter for 15 years.  Afterwards she decided to become a nurse and attended Kennesaw State University and graduated with a degree in nursing in 1993.  She then worked as an orthopedic nurse at Cobb Medical Center in Austell, Ga.

Cheryl liked to read books on health and wellness and loved art including paintings, sculptures, and music.  Her hobbies included making jewelry, painting rocks, gardening and learning to play drums.  Cheryl was known for her strong spirit, big sense of humor, wide smile, and an infectious laugh.

In addition to her husband, Cheryl is survived by her son Bradley W. Van Buren and stepsister Sue Moravetz; and was preceded in death by her brother Jack Moravetz along with both of her parents.

A visitation will be held for Cheryl at 11:00am on Saturday March 1, 2025, at Lakeside Funeral Home with a memorial service starting at 12:00pm followed by a reception also on Saturday March 1, 2025.  Services will be led by Pastor Wendel Dandridge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Cheryl.
