Obituary

Christina Grove (née Shead) passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family in Canton, Georgia on March 31st at the age of 52.

Christina was preceded in death by her late husband David Grove and is survived by her parents, Ralph and Cheryl Shead of Canton, Georgia; daughter, Savannah Grove of Canton, Georgia; and sister, Erica Wright of Woodstock, Georgia.

Christina was born on November, 25th 1970 in Atlanta, Georgia.  She graduated from Parkview High School in 1989 and continued her education at Gwinnett Technical College where she earned an Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting.  She was married to David Grove, a Gunner's Mate Chief Petty Officer for the United States Coast Guard, for many years prior to his passing while on active duty in September of 2001.  They had one daughter together, the love of their life, Savannah Grove.  After David's death, Christina and Savannah moved from St. Pete Florida back home to Georgia, most recently settling in Canton.  Christina's greatest accomplishment and focus in life was her daughter.

Christina was also an incredible friend; lifting up those around her with her sparkling smile and generous heart.  She loved soaking in the sun on the beach or by the pool, always with a book in hand.  Georgia born but a Florida girl at heart, you could find her cheering on her FSU Seminoles every autumn Saturday on college game day.  Her spirit and laugh were infectious – whether riding in the car with the windows rolled down, singing along to songs; playing a game of cards; dancing across the kitchen floor; or just goofing around with her beloved dog, Miley – Christina lived a life full of joy.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday April 8th at Lakeside Funeral Home – viewing & reception with the family will begin at 10am with a service to follow at 12pm. Banks Brazell will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Christina's life. She will be buried beside David at the Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.  The family would like to thank the ICU team at Northside Hospital Cherokee for their dedication and kindness.
