Obituary

Constance "Connie" Lydia Knuth (née Rueter), aged 81, passed away on June 8, 2024, in Marietta, GA. She was born on May 29, 1943, in Springfield, IL, to Arlon Rueter and Lydia Helena Rueter (née Streufert).

Connie graduated from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO, and worked as a Registered Nurse throughout her career. She settled into a love for nursing, spending most of her career specializing in allergy and asthma, working in Madison, WI, and later in Durham, NC. Connie celebrated over 50 years of marriage with the love of her life, Rev. Jim Knuth until he passed away in 2021.

When asked a few months ago what she considered to be her biggest achievements in life, Connie's answer was her roles of being a supportive wife and a loving mother. Connie fulfilled many other roles in her life - with the common theme of caregiving for others at the heart of all of them.

Connie had many creative and crafty talents, excelling in knitting, sewing, cooking, baking, purse making, and creating baby blankets for all her grandchildren. She had a knack for hilarious one-liners and a sneaky sense of humor, which surprised and delighted her family and friends.

Connie Knuth is survived by her children Christa Callen, James "Jim" Knuth (Becca), Cathy Yonaitis (Matt), and Corrie Knuth; grandchildren Zachary Callen, Angela Callen, Max Callen, Jolie Knuth, Elijah Yonaitis, Jonah Yonaitis, Samuel Yonaitis, Norah Howard, and Bennett Howard; and siblings James Rueter (Barb), Paula Storck (Jim), Gloria Ruppel (Bill), Christine Leonard, and Victoria Carron (Chris). Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Arlon and Lydia Rueter, and her husband, Rev. James "Jim" Allen Knuth.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Unity North Atlanta, with Rev. Avril Maynard officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a repass (meal) after the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research found here: https://give.michaeljfox.org/give/547978/#!/donation/checkout
