Obituary

Danny Hester age 53 went to meet Jesus face to face on Sunday afternoon May 17th, 2020. After a 27 month journey with a rare form of cancer Cholangiocarcinoma "bile duct" cancer. He fought a courageous and inspirational battle with a cancer that takes most people in mere weeks after being diagnosed. He never questioned why he got sick and he was thankful that he was given a chance to rededicate his life to God and that God allowed him time to worship and read the Bible. One of the first things he read after being diagnosed was Job and he wanted to be a man of Faith like Job. He faced his journey head on with a smile on his face ready to meet Jesus when the time came. His final days were spent at home surrounded by his loving family.

Danny was born on February 17th,1967 in Atlanta Ga. to loving parents F.M. and Margaret Hester. He graduated from Lithia Springs High School in 1985. He moved to Woodstock in 1992 and married the Love of his Life Melissa on April 24th,1993. He was a loving, caring and passionate husband, father, brother and son. He was devoted to Andrew's love and talent on the baseball field and he spent many hours with Andrew on and off the baseball field always working with Andrew to help him be successful. That time and the memories they created were very special to Danny. He was so proud of the man Andrew has become and how he continued to push through school and not let his dad's cancer be an excuse not to succeed. He loved spending time with his best friend and love of his life Melissa just being together is what they loved. In recent years they took a few trips to Savannah, Ga. and developed a love for Savannah and hoped to retire there someday. He loved spending time with all of his family he felt that his cancer brought everyone closer and made them realize how special life is and just how short it can be.

Danny also had a love and passion for working in his yard and spent many hours a day working in the yard. He was very proud of his yard and worked very hard to keep it looking amazing! He also had a love for music and exercising. He was an avid Duke basketball fan a love that he shared with his son Andrew and his wife Melissa. In August of 2019 even though he was not feeling well he made a trip to Durham, N.C. where the three of them had the opportunity to visit Cameron Indoor Stadium, meet a few players and even take a couple of shots from the court. He held strong to being a Duke fan even though his in-laws are University of Kentucky fans.

Danny will be missed by his family and friends and remembered for being loving, caring, compassionate, quick witted, his long eyelashes, a contagious laugh and a smile that lit up a room.
