Daniel Peer Searles, age 85, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away on April 30, 2026.
He was born on August 18, 1940, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Daniel and Evelyn (Osgood) Searles. Dan raised his family in Connecticut, and after a long and dedicated career in the printing industry, Dan and his wife, Joanne, retired to Georgia to be closer to their sons and grandchildren.
Dan found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved gardening, had a deep compassion for dogs—especially through his work with rescue organizations—and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. Family vacations to Cape Cod were among his happiest memories, and he never turned down a great cigar. Dan will be remembered for his sweet smile, his kindness, and his warm sense of humor.
He is survived by his two sons, Clark (Mary) Searles and Dan (Linda) Searles, and his four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Joan, Diane, Donald, Evelyn, and Albert; and his beloved wife, Joanne (Cianci) Searles.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill, Connecticut, followed by a Celebration of Life at [location to be announced].
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dogs on Death Row in Canton, Georgia ( www.dodr.org ).
Dan's family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this time.
