On June 4, 2024, David Christopher "Wolf" Crossman of Woodstock, Georgia passed away suddenly after a day vacationing with his family.
Born in Hixson, Tennessee, and raised by parents Warren and Doretha Crossman, Wolf grew up as a smart, curious, and independent child. After graduating with honors from Hixson High (1990), he moved out of state to accept admission to Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia, as an electrical engineer. Here he started to pick up the threads of lifelong interests and weave together a rich life that wasn't flashy but was full of depth.
David, or "Wolf" as some friends called him, met Beth Hovis at a science fiction convention. Each danced to the beat of their own drum but they matched rhythms and married quietly in a geodesic dome home, dedicated to supporting one another. David brought a deeply grounding force to their life and relationship.
A team player at work, David specialized in being a communication leader for clients and a transition manager at Adobe, where he celebrated 10 years. David was proud of making the goals of his customers come to fruition.
David was a loving, kind, and protective dad of two daughters, Zoe Larissa Crossman, born 2003, and Mairin Adara Crossman born 2008. He was their biggest fan and a dedicated supporter of all their activities. Zoe and Mairin dove into lacrosse, basketball, Challenger baseball (where David stepped up from dad to coach), Special Olympics, and many more activities. David was steadfast and encouraging every step of the way.
David put his family first as a dedicated dad who taught his girls how to share, supported his wife's love of books, and planned Disney vacations so that time together was a priority. David deeply loved his family's quirks and they supported (with a groan) his love of puns, games, and Star Wars. David's playful spirit shone through in his masterful wit while hanging out with friends or as the proud dad on the edge of kids' birthday parties. David relished shared time, laughter, and meaningful conversations. He was a touchstone for many, and could be stubborn, but once you were important to him, he'd be there for you.
The lightsaber he treasured and built on one vacation (and his love of jokes) will be carried on by his wife and daughters, family, and community.
How lucky we are to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.
Family left behind include his father, Warren Crossman, his parent-in-law Margaret Crossman, and his brothers Steven and Patrick. Family can be more than where we come from and David leaves behind brothers in spirit, his friends' children that he cared for like his own, and a community of people across the country, especially Woodstock and Atlanta, that feel his absence. David is predeceased by his mother, Doretha Crossman.
A celebration of David's life will be held outside under a portico on July 27, 2024, at 11:30 am at Lakeside Funeral Home 121 Claremore Dr, Woodstock, GA 30188. The facility is handicap accessible, something David would appreciate, and the family requests that attendees keep it casual, wearing graphic "geek T-shirts" or Hawaiian shirts, as David favored at home. We invite you to share memories or stories. It was his wish that we carry on, reminisce, and smile together during this time. The family requests no flowers. If you would like to donate in the spirit of those causes close to David's heart, please give to the Circle of Friends Coffee Shop at The Circuit Café or the River Ridge Girl's Varsity Lacrosse team, both causes were meaningful for his daughters, and for David.
