David Alan Kemp, with loved ones surrounding him, departed this life and entered eternal glory, his faith now sight as he bowed on his knees to worship his Savior face to face on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
David was born to Hazel Kemp Stanley on March 3, 1959. Throughout his 64-year life, he was a son, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a friend, and a leader. Most importantly David was a Christian who loved the Lord and served Him throughout his life, even planting two churches dedicated to the teaching and preaching of the salvation found alone in Jesus Christ.
David graduated from Calvary Baptist Day School in 1977 and attended Georgia Tech earning two engineering degrees, as well as a master's degree from the University of South Carolina. He married his high school sweetheart, Sherree Dooley, in 1981 and they settled in Woodstock, Georgia, in the early 1990s. He was faithfully involved in the education of his children and was a steady support, always ready to give sound guidance when needed. David was a faithful elder and teacher in his local church. He was a methodical and detailed businessman starting two companies throughout his career and consistently tracked his stocks and investments. He enjoyed the toils of the soil in his yard, cheering on the Braves, PGA tour golf, and his absolute favorite was watching college basketball.
David is preceded in death by his father, Edward Kemp, Sr., brother, Edward Kemp, Jr., and stepfather George Stanley. With earthly sorrow and the great hope of future joy, he leaves behind his wife Sherree Kemp, his mother, Hazel Stanley, and 5 daughters: Rebekah Kemp, Deborah Parker (Neal), Leah Harriss (Blake), Hannah Sealock (Connor), and Moriah Teague (Josiah). He has 11 adoring grandchildren: Amelia, Claire, Emma and Lydia Parker, Wyatt, Lawson and Loretta Harriss, Noah and Gabriel Sealock, and Lincoln and Titus Teague. He is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
The family will receive visitors at Lakeside Funeral Home (121 Claremore Drive, Woodstock, GA 30188) on Saturday, June 24th from 5-8 pm. A service will be at Community Bible Church (200 Chastain Road, Kennesaw, GA 30144) on Sunday, June 25th at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Canton Bible Church (PO Box 5783 Canton, GA 30114) for the spread of the gospel in his local community or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
