Donald Ray Wiggs of Woodstock, GA passed away peacefully at home, after a brief illness, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Don was born on March 19, 1945, in Princeton, NC to Elton "Toby" and Frances Wiggs. Don grew up in Princeton and graduated from Princeton High School in 1963. Don became an entrepreneur during his senior year of high school by purchasing Boyette's Florist. He continued growing his business while attending Wingate University in Wingate, NC from 1963-1965.
He met the love of his life when they both attended a national floral convention at The Colosseum in Charlotte NC and shared sixty beautiful years. They worked together at Boyette's Florist until 1970, at which time they moved to Atlanta and joined the family-owned Anthony's Florist until their semi-retirement in 1996.
Don served as Facilities Director at Peachtree Corners Baptist Church 1996-2008. His fellow employees at PCBC described Don as: well organized, the Masterful Wisdom behind the scenes, always ready to help, saw humor in the worst of circumstances, and one who made delicious Peanut Butter Balls at Christmas.
Don was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock where he served his Sunday School class, helped with the Wednesday night meals, attended Bible Study, and served anywhere there was a need. His nightly ritual was reading his Bible and praying on his knees.
Don loved being outdoors, gardening, enjoying the birds; the annual vacations with family at the beach; and his daily swims at the gym.
His five grandchildren remember their "Papa" as: taking long walks with me in nature, thoughtful and selfless, faithful and a role model, loving and caring, a true man of God and a good listener.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Elton "Toby" and Frances Wiggs, a brother, Elton "Ed" Wiggs, his paternal grandparents, Art and Sally Wiggs and his maternal grandparents, Moses Sr. and Myrtie Powell.
Don is survived by his devoted and caring wife, Hilda (Anthony) Wiggs; his children, Thomas Ray "Tommy" Wiggs of Hartwell, GA and Melanie (Wiggs) Bell and husband, Matt, of Woodstock GA; his grandchildren, Taylor Wiggs, Thomas Wiggs, Bailey Bell, Mallory Claire Wiggs, and Lilah Bell.
