Obituary

Eleanor Ruth Youngblood, 75, of Marietta, GA, passed away on September 29, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Eleanor was born on February 16, 1951, in Columbia, SC, to Claude and Blanche Ridgeway. She graduated from North Augusta High School in 1969 and went on to pursue a career in Cosmetology.

On April 18, 1970, she married the love of her life, Rodney F. Youngblood Sr., beginning a marriage that lasted 56 years.
Eleanor was a loving mother to three children, Rodney Jr., Amy, and Sam. She treasured her years as a stay-at-home mother, pouring her love and creativity into her family and their home.

She had a wonderful imagination and a creative spirit. She enjoyed crafting, floral arranging, folk-art painting, woodworking, and sewing. She especially loved the holidays and always found ways to make them memorable and special for her family. Her greatest joy came from laughing, sharing time, and making memories with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Eleanor had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog, Gucci. She also found great happiness in gardening and in feeding and providing homes for wild birds, which brought her countless hours of joy.

She was a caring and generous woman who never hesitated to help those less fortunate. Her compassionate heart touched many lives, and she will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, laughter, generosity, and unwavering love for her family.

Eleanor leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney F. Youngblood Sr.; her son, Rodney Youngblood Jr., and his wife, Jeannie Youngblood; grandchildren Lex Youngblood, Molly Youngblood, Amanda Spates, and Zoey Spates; her daughter, Amy Youngblood, and grandson Ayden Youngblood; her son, Samuel Youngblood; her sister, Claudia Ridgeway; and numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eleanor's memory to the National Breast Cancer Foundation at www.nationalbreastcancer.org.
