Obituary

Erin Helaine Buice (Wheeler), 58 of Woodstock, Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.  Erin could find a solution for almost any problem but not for ALS.  She championed the disease with determination and grit and would not let it stop her from doing the things she loved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Phillip Buice, parents Charlotte and Alvin Wheeler, and her brother Kirk Wheeler.

She is survived by her loving children Tyler and Savannah Buice, her cherished granddaughter Luna Buice and her devoted sister Allison Miller.

Erin was a woman of incredible strength and perseverance.  After losing her husband while their children were still young, she took on the immense responsibility of raising Tyler and Savannah on her own.  She faced the challenges of single parenthood with unwavering love, determination, and grace, ensuring that they never felt alone. No matter how difficult times became, she remained their rock, providing and protecting. She sacrificed, worked tirelessly, and always put her family first, instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness and love.

A dedicated professional at Global Payments, Erin was highly respected in her field, earning the admiration of her colleagues through her diligence, intelligence and integrity.  Even as she built her career, she never lost sight of what mattered most, her family.

In her youth, Erin was a talented competitive swimmer, specializing in the mile.  A reflection of her endurance and determination that carried her through every stage of life.  She never backed down from a challenge, always pushing forward with quiet strength.  She attended Georgia State and Indian River College in Florida on swimming scholarships.

Erin was never an animal lover however Roo, a toy fox terrier mix rescue won her heart. She loved taking Roo on walks and snuggling on the couch.  He was her emotional support, offering comfort when needed. Roo was her loving companion during her ALS journey.

Beyond her work and family, Erin found solace and joy in nature.  She loved to garden and found peace in nurturing life.  Being outdoors brought her a sense of freedom and connection that she cherished.

Erin's love, resilience, and unwavering spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.  A Celebration of Life will be held on March 15, 2025, from 1-4pm at Lakeside Funeral Home, 121 Claremore Dr., Woodstock, GA 30188.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gleason Foundation ( https://teamgleason.mygiftlegacy.org )
