Obituary

Ira Mae Jeffcoat, of Griffin, Georgia, was born September 11, 2026 to Jake and Madeline Jeffcoat. weighing 2 pounds 15 ounces. She went home to be with Jesus on September 15, 2026, at four days old, in her mother's arms.

Earlier this year, Ira's parents learned they were expecting a little girl. Shortly after, they received the news no parent wants to hear: Ira had been diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a life-limiting chromosomal condition. Every part of the pregnancy that followed was uncertain, even whether they would have the chance to meet her alive.

But at 33 weeks, Ira arrived. She was spunky and the very definition of a fighter. Over four days of being constantly loved on, she showed her family that she had been made perfectly by a God who makes no mistakes.

Her big brother Hayes hugged and kissed his baby sister. Her grandparents, aunts, and uncles held her and prayed over her. Scripture was read over her often, and her family gives thanks to the God of Heaven for her, and for the time He gave them together.

On Tuesday, September 15th, Ira Mae passed away in her mother's arms and was immediately welcomed into the presence of Jesus. Her family believes her body has been made whole, and they praise Him for the kindness of choosing them to be her parents. Impact is not measured by time, and love is not predicated on comfort. Ira taught her family both of these things well.

Ira is survived by her parents, Madeline and Jake Jeffcoat; her brother, Hayes; her four grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who love her dearly.

A celebration of Ira's life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at City Church in Griffin, GA. All are welcome to come honor her life and praise Jesus for welcoming her home

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the ministry Abel Speaks: link here , an organization that helps families who choose to carry a child with a life-limiting diagnosis.

Ira's citizenship is in Heaven, just as her family's is through Jesus. They are excited to one day hold her again
