James Arvil Adams, 84, of Acworth, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, August 4, 2024. James was born on January 4, 1940, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, to JP and Dora Adams. James moved to Marietta in 1958 to work for Floyd S. Pike Electric. In 1973, he started his own company, James Adams Electrical Contractors.

He attended Elizabeth Baptist Church in Marietta and First Baptist Woodstock, where he was a faithful Sunday School teacher and deacon.

He retired in 1997. During his retirement, he was known for gardening, beekeeping, sawmilling, and woodworking.

James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gloria, daughter Xan (Jim), sons Mark (Lauren) and Chad (Cathleen), grandchildren Press (Brittney), Ashley (Dustin), Kathryn, Emma, Owen, Gage, and Trey, and great-grandchildren Rylee, Raygen, Ben, Jake, Luke, and Charlie. He is also survived by his sister Lucy Griggs of Salisbury, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his brothers Clyde and Beechel and his sisters Rena, Reba, Grace, and Clara.
