Obituary

Jim Huntington was born November 26, 1942, in Newark, New Jersey. He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida.  He served in the U.S. Army and then dedicated himself to a much-loved, 40-year career at Walgreens.  In 1975, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ. He served faithfully at the various churches he attended in the office of deacon, on committees, as a Sunday School teacher, and as an ordained Minister.

He was united in holy matrimony to Bonnie Rebecca Ashworth on October 3, 1970. This union was blessed with three daughters. He is survived by his loving, beautiful bride of 51 years.

His Christian life was beautiful and full of joy, and he was loved so well.  His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. He quietly entered eternity on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022 with his loving family surrounding him.

He was a talented athlete and enjoyed many sports, especially tennis. He was an avid reader and loved movies. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Kimberly Marshall, Carey Haan, and Melanie Baer; sons-in-law: Matt Haan and Danny Baer; grandchildren: Payton Marshall, Riley and Grace Marshall, Zachary Haan, Tyler Haan, Ashton Baer, and Grayson Baer; brother-in-law: Scott Carlson; sisters-in-law: Sarah Carlson and Cindy Ashworth; nieces and nephews: Richard Ashworth, Sarah Pope, Alaina Crawford, Nathan Carlson, and Rachel Taylor; siblings: Ernest Schultz, Henry Schultz, and Joanie Delk; and a host of devoted grand-nieces, nephews, and friends.  He is preceded by family members that welcomed him to his eternal home: Carey, Louise, and Mark Ashworth, and Austin Crawford.

Words of appreciation from the Huntington family:

Our hearts have been encouraged during the illness and passing of our husband, father, father-in-law, granddaddy, brother-in-law, brother, uncle, friend, prayer partner, movie partner, and tennis partner by the many acts of kindness extended to our family. Your prayers and all expressions of love and sympathy are greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the First Baptist Church Woodstock Faith Promise Fund.
