James Philip "Phil" Jones , 70, of Woodstock passed away May 22nd 2020. He was born to James Johnson Jones and Rachel Gray Jones on September 8th 1949. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Susan Lavada Pattillo Jones, three children Amelia Jones Maley (Chris) , Brandi Lynn Jones, and James Andrew Jones (Christina), four grandchildren Eli, Peyton, Ethan, and Emily, sister Dianna Carnes, several extended family members, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Phil was known for his love of UGA football; he was an avid "Dawg" fan. He won Husband of the Year award for 47 consecutive years, and the Father of the Year award for the past 44 years. Phil served in the US Army for six years, from 1969 to 1975, including a tour to Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a small family memorial was held on Sunday May 24th 2020 at Woodstock City Church, with an internment to be scheduled at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery.
