Jamie Karnes, age 49, of Woodstock, GA, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019.
Jamie's personal faith in Jesus Christ made him a servant leader who executed well, but never took center stage. He loved his job as Director of Audio for 20+ years at First Baptist Church Woodstock. He also took every opportunity to use his gifts and talents in other venues, shows, and gigs. Jamie considered himself an amateur weatherman as he felt called to always update everyone on the current and future weather conditions. Although he was 49 years old, Jamie loved Disney World as much as any child. He loved planning trips and visiting the parks with family and friends. Jamie loved Christmas as much as Clark Griswold. He and his wife started decorating for Christmas on Halloween. He had his own Snow Village he set up each year, and he gave it a themed name annually. Jamie was a Georgia Bulldog football fan through and through, and enjoyed refereeing games from his living room couch. Above all else, he loved his family. He worked hard, laughed often, and enjoyed ice cream every occasion he could.
Jamie was preceded in death by his grandparents; (Paternal) Lewis & Geraldine Karnes, (Maternal) Homer & Lavern Morrison and his father-in-law Greg Jenkins.
He is survived by wife; Lori (Jenkins) Karnes, son & daughter-in-law; Jacob and Addi Karnes of Tampa, FL., daughter; Julianne Karnes, parents; Roger & Pat Karnes of Lynchburg, VA, brother & sister-in-law; Lee and Tina Karnes of Garland, TX, sister & brother-in-law; Shelia and Thomas Klein of Lynchburg, VA, In-Laws; Jake & Gale Redmond of Warner Robins, GA, and Margaret Jenkins of Mt. Airy, GA, several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers you may donate to the children's college fund that is being set up for Jacob and Julianne. The routing information for that account is not available at the moment. However, it will be posted as soon as possible.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Lakeside Funeral Home and on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Woodstock.
