Mrs. Velta "Jane" Edens, 86, of West Columbia, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 26, 2020. Interment for Mrs. Edens will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2020, at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, Ret. Air Force LTC, Ira A. Edens. A special memorial service will be planned at later date.

Mrs. Edens was born in Darlington, SC, on February 19, 1934. She was the daughter of the late William "Morris" Flowers and Marjorie Sanderson Flowers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia, SC. Mrs. Edens was a graduate of the University of SC as a Registered Nurse and served the majority of her career at the Lexington County Hospital, West Columbia. She had a huge love of caring for children, making crafts, and attending family events.

Surviving are her two sons, Dr. Byron E. Edens (Theresa) and Nolan I. Edens (Camille); one brother, William "Billy" (Joann) Flowers, two sisters, Ellen Pearl Melton and April Winford Smith; and five grandchildren, Danielle Edens, Philip Edens, Rachel Edens, Nora Edens and Mavis Edens. Mrs. Edens was preceded in death by her husband, Ret. Air Force LTC, Ira A. Edens ; her daughter, Rowena J. Edens and her son, Anthony R. Edens.
