Jimmy's journey began on July 25, 1949, in Burbank, California. His early years were shaped by his move to Simi Valley in 1959, followed by his graduation from high school in 1968. He was a lifelong learner, attending Moorpark Jr. College and later the University College of Northridge.
But perhaps the most significant chapter of his life began on January 29,1971, when he married the love of his life, Susan Jean France Boen. Together, they built a family that was the center of his world. He welcomed his first child, Joseph Aaron Boen, in July 1972, shortly before being drafted into the Army that September, where he proudly served his country for two years. His family grew again in December 1973, with the birth of his daughter, Rebecca Ruth Boen Kitchell.
Jimmy was a man of great integrity and work ethic. His career in air quality testing - spanning roles with Air Quality Testing and Design, LDX, Dustex, and finally as a consultant with Amerair - spoke to his commitment and professional expertise, a career he dedicated himself to until just last year.
In 1976, Jimmy and his family moved to Kennesaw, where they found their spiritual home and a community for their children at Harvest Baptist Church. For forty years, until 2016, that church was the place where he lived out his faith. In 2017, he found a new, wonderful church family in Cartersville, where he continued to serve and worship faithfully until this past July.
Beyond his career and his hobbies, the defining truth of Jimmy's life was his love for the Lord. Saved at the young age of nine, he spent his decades of life putting that faith into action. Whether he was teaching Sunday School, leading Children's Church, serving as a deacon, working in the nursery, or managing the church's finances as treasurer, Jimmy was a servant-hearted man who would help in any way he could.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Plowman Boen; his mother, Bonnie Pool Boen; and his brother, Jerry Pool Boen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Jean France Boen; his son, Joseph Aaron Boen; his daughter, Rebecca Ruth Boen Kitchell; his brother, Jonathan Pool Contreras, and his sister-in-law, Helen Irene Kise Boen. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Katherine Loreen Kitchell Morgan, Laura Lynn Kitchell Earwood, Levi Nathaniel Kitchell, Joshua William Kitchell, Elizabeth Dawn Kitchell Walker, and Zachary Daniel Kitchell, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Oren James Earwood and June Myrtle Earwood.
He leaves behind a legacy of steadfast service and quiet, enduring love. While we miss him deeply, we take great comfort in knowing that he is now home, resting in the presence of the Lord he loved and served so well for so long.
