JoAnn Trahan Meador, 92, was born on March 7, 1934, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the late Joseph Doris and Delia Gay Trahan. She peacefully went to be with her Lord on June 30, 2026.

JoAnn was the valedictorian of her high school class and earned a full scholarship to Louisiana College, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She was later accepted to Tulane University Medical School. While working for Kelly Temp Services during that time, she met the love of her life, Alfred, at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church.

JoAnn found joy in life's simple pleasures:

reading, watching classic westerns and the evening news, working puzzles, shooting basketball hoops, and playing Upwords. Above all, she treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Alfred C. Meador; her parents; her siblings Walter Trahan, Lee (Burnice) Trahan, Ruth Smith, Ruby Stratton, John Edward Trahan, Warren (Thelma) Trahan, Fred (Betty) Trahan, Mildred Trahan, Jane (Bobby) Chaisson, William Trahan, Joseph Jr. Trahan, and Raleigh Trahan; her sister-in-law, Jeannie Rich Trahan; her nieces, Tina Taylor and Susan Potter; and her granddaughter, Erica Lynn Kimler.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Trahan; her children, Joseph (Sherri) Meador, Jennifer (Rick) Kimler, and Jeffrey (Jill) Meador; her grandchildren, Lindsey (Steven) Bragg, Christopher Kimler, Max Tarshis, Cynthia Kimler, Jackson Meador, Jacob Meador, and Jenna Meador; her great-grandchildren, Atticus Bragg, Lincoln Bragg, and Emersyn Bragg; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
