Obituary

John Terry Bisbee, age 72, was born on May 10, 1954, in Flint, Michigan, and passed away on May 10, 2026. He made his home in Woodstock, Georgia, where he spent his later years surrounded by the people he loved most.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Bisbee; his sister, Cheri Turvey; and his daughters, Ashley Smithers (Mikey) and Candace Evans (Nathan). John was a proud grandfather to Silas Bisbee (Briana), Malachi Bisbee (Layla), Audrey Bisbee, Brianna Smithers, Ciera Smithers, Ezekiel Smithers, Emory Smithers, Emily Evans, Bear Fletcher, and Vassily Evans. He was also blessed with great‑grandchildren Raine Bisbee, Jack Davidson, and Riley Davidson. He is survived as well by many nieces, nephews, and friends who held him close to their hearts.

John was known for his lighthearted spirit and naturally positive outlook. His bubbly personality filled every room, and people were simply drawn to him. He lived with what many described as a "law of attraction" energy. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was active in his church communities over the years, including Faith Tabernacle of Flint, MI; Woodstock First Baptist of Woodstock, GA; and a small, close-knit family of Christians taught under Pastor David Meadows.

Family meant everything to him. He loved taking his grandchildren to the shooting range and was an avid movie watcher. He enjoyed woodworking and could spend hours creating something with his hands.

John supported both his daughters and grandchildren in their sports as a fan and a coach. He showed up, he cheered, and he encouraged them with the same enthusiasm and pride he carried throughout his life.

After graduating high school, John attended Mott Community College, where he completed trade school for painting — a craft that became his lifelong profession. He spent his entire career as a professional painter, a trade he took great pride in. He owned two painting companies together with his wife during his life: John's Painting in Flint, Michigan, and later Custom Touch Services in Woodstock, Georgia. Their work together through more than 40 years of marriage was a partnership built on hard work and shared dedication.

John also held two real estate licenses, one in Michigan and one in Georgia, reflecting his drive to learn, grow, and provide for his family in every way he could.

Throughout his career, he completed notable projects including painting the corporate Coca‑Cola facility in Michigan. He later worked with Windsong Properties, contributing to impressive building projects in North Carolina. In the final chapter of his career, he served as a corporate painter for Ethica Health Systems, bringing the same dedication and good‑natured spirit that defined his life.

John is preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Bisbee; his brother, Sam Bisbee; his sisters, Jody Bisbee and Janey Gorney; his daughter, Rachel Bisbee; and his granddaughter, Coraline Evans.
