John Joseph Burns, 75, was called home to be with our Lord on January 4, 2021. He was a devout Catholic and attended St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Woodstock. Following graduation, he was commissioned into the United States Air Force and stationed in Homestead, Florida. He served 4 years and resigned his commission as a Captain in 1971. After the Air Force, he was a highly successful and well-respected salesman, until his retirement. His most cherished job was that of bragging and being proud of his wife, Tisha.
John is survived by his six children Jay (Tina), Kim (Quenten), Laura (Michael), Dani (David), Carrie (Roy), and Andrea (Payson). He was a lifelong Dawg and loved all things associated with the University of Georgia. He also loved the Braves, Falcons, and Hawks with all of them being second to the Dawgs. He loved most sports and enjoyed playing golf. He coached several of his children and grandchildren in basketball. If he was not coaching a grandchild, he would always go to their games and support them in whatever sport they played. He was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 11768.
