On Sunday, August 4, 2019, Joseph (Joe) Francis Scaringe, husband and father, passed away at the age of 72. Joe was born on September 19, 1946 in New Britain, CT to Frank and Maria (Ara) Scaringe. He was named after his uncle, Fireman 2 nd Class Joseph Francis Ara who was awarded a Purple Heart in WWII for his ultimate sacrifice. Joe is survived by his wife, Lee; his daughter, Carrie Chase and his granddaughter, Toni Penta. He is also survived by his brother, Jeff Scaringe of Odenton, MD; his sister, Penny Murphy of Woodstock, GA; his stepsons Jim, Frank and Rich; several cousins, two nieces, a nephew and a host of friends. Joe attended local schools and graduated from New Britain High School in 1964. After a tour in the U.S. Marines, Joe worked locally including with Aramark. He and his wife, Leona (Lee), moved to Florida several years ago. Joe also worked for Aramark in Tampa, FL before retiring. Joe never turned away from a good stick of pepperoni, a crossword puzzle or a meal at Captain D's. His siblings always teased him about being his Mom's favorite, so it is only fitting that he passed away on his Mom's birthday – her greatest gift ever.
