Joyce Marcelle Cox Watkins, age 96, passed away on Monday, September 28th, 2026. She is survived by her daughter, two stepsons, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marcie was a fiercely strong and independent woman, born in 1930 at a time when opportunity represented a new frontier for women. She came from meager beginnings, growing up on a farm in rural Roswell, Georgia, during the 1930s. At 96, she was among the oldest surviving members of a generation that remembered Roswell as it once was, before decades of extraordinary growth and change transformed the community around her.

From those humble beginnings, Marcie built a successful career and a loving, successful family. Throughout her long life, she impacted the lives of many people. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, and church, and made countless positive contributions to her community.

Marcie was a long-time employee of Georgia Power Company. After retirement, she remained active through the Georgia Power Ambassadors program. She was an avid member of Peachtree Pilot Club of Atlanta and was instrumental in the founding of Georgia Artists with DisAbilities. She was passionate about this organization and, for many years, traveled the state to display their artwork.
