Julie Shannon Thomas, age 52, peacefully traded Earth for Heaven on July 12, 2019 at her Acworth home. Born November 2, 1966 in East Point, GA., she was the middle daughter of Phil and Carole Kessler. Julie attended Cass High School and later owned and operated successful tanning salons, including Electric Beach in Cartersville. She gave her heart to the Lord and had such a wonderful peace about her that it brought at least three others to do the same in the weeks before her death. She had a passion for animals-especially cats, and loved helping many to find homes while supporting one of her favorite charities- Furkids Animal Rescue. She loved her family, friends, shopping, Adam Levine, cooking, and decorating with her unparalleled style. She was stubborn, funny, blunt, and witty and despite her terminal illness was more concerned for the ones she was leaving behind. She is preceded in death by her loving mother- in-law Nell Thomas, and fur baby companions Max and Nickey Thomas. Survivors include her husband Danny; daughter Amber (Andy) Abernathy: grandchildren Gavin Tatum, Olivia and Rhett Abernathy; fur baby Lola; sisters Chrissy Kessler and Rhonda Newman; father-in-law Ted Thomas; sister-in-law Sandy (Doug) Stanley: brothers-in-law Jerry Lee and Mickey Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews, and caregiver; Debbie Agan. A casual Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, July 21 at 3:00 pm at Atco Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Backpack Buddies in honor of Julie Thomas ℅ Atco Baptist Church, 20 Parmenter St. Cartersville, GA. 30120.
