Ms. Sweeney is rejoining her late ex-husband, Mr. Frank Hilton, her parents, Mr. Leo G. Sweeney and Mrs. Joanne M. Sweeney, her late brother-in-law, Mr. Bruce Palmer, her most recent deceased younger sister, Ms. Sharon Cordella, and many who have passed before them. She is survived by many: Her sisters, Ms. Gail Mason and Mrs. Laurie Palmer, many nieces and nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She is survived by her children: Frank E. Hilton, Debra G. Johar, Michael P. Hilton, and Richard B. Hilton, and her 8 grandchildren between the four of them.
Ms. Sweeney lived her early years in Weymouth, Quincy, and Boston in Massachusetts. After retirement, her living years were spent in North Carolina and in Georgia, her final resting place.
Though educated to teach secondary education for a living, Kathleen spent her early years and motherhood years working as a proofreader for the Hyde Park Tribune and later for Harwich Lithograph until the position became obsolete. Then at the age of 50, she went on to earn her master's degree and most happily became a professor of Business English and ESL at Katherine and Gibbs College in Boston. Her love for teaching adults was profoundly evident in her carefully planned teaching displays and her home-crafted materials, along with her constant dedication and glad story-telling about her lessons and student successes. Ms. Kathleen Sweeney was a most organized and resourceful educator!
Another passion she had was serving as an elder and choir member at the Presbyterian Church in Hyde Park, and singing in choir at various other churches during her later years. Her hobbies were playing piano and listening to her collected music cassettes and CDs. She played piano beautifully for her own pleasure. Throughout her life, Ms. Kathleen also loved her pet cats and kittens.
Ms. Kathleen lived a simple decent life. She dressed simply, shopped modestly, spoke prim and proper English, hardly ever cursed, always honored her parents no matter what happened, never possessed anything that wasn't rightfully her own, and always gave what she could in her own way. She internalized life-long pain while here on Earth so much that she couldn't accept that she is a beloved child of God, worthy of His love for her. With limited mindset, she loved and gave of herself in the best way she could.
