Krista Marie Tennyson passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 21, 1970, Krista was the first-born daughter of Tom and Debbie Tennyson. Her innate grit and tenacity showed itself from an early age: she was afraid of nothing. When her musical career was derailed after being told, "just pretend to sing" at the middle school choir concert, Krista refocused and excelled academically, graduating near the top of her class at Washington Community High School. She went on to graduate from the University of Illinois with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. After graduating and moving to Chicago, Krista embraced the city life. One of her proudest accomplishments was completing a 500-mile AIDS bike ride in honor of her uncle. She thoroughly enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen, making desserts and delicious meals for friends and family.
After more than a decade of working in the corporate world, Krista left it all behind to become her own boss. Armed with nothing but a dream and an entrepreneurial spirit, she funneled her boundless creativity into an instantly trendy embroidery and gift shop on the north side of Chicago. Whatever Krista put her mind to, she accomplished. Throughout her life and especially during her extended illness, Krista fought for every day and every achievement. She loved her nieces and nephews with all her heart and family gatherings will never be the same without her. She will always be affectionately remembered for her quick wit, her less than perfect pitch, and her wicked sense of humor.
Krista was preceded in death by her father, Thomas. She is survived by her mother, Debbie Tennyson of Woodstock, GA, her sisters, Lori (Jeff) Bartik of Marietta, GA, and Sara (Greg) Blakely of Pinehurst, NC, nieces and nephews Alex and Meghan Bartik, Liam, Jocelyn, Emerson, and Violet Blakely, and her loving partner, John Fevola of Canton, GA.
At Krista's request, a small celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a local food bank or reach out and help a neighbor or friend in need.
