Lawrence Joseph Guichard, Jr., age 82, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in Marietta, Georgia.
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Larry lived most of his life there, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and music. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea during the Vietnam War, a service that reflected his quiet strength.
Larry was a proud alumnus of Tulane University and earned his MBA from Loyola University. He valued education deeply and encouraged lifelong learning in his children and grandchildren.
Larry was a gifted musician who shared his talents generously. He served faithfully in the music ministry at Transfiguration Catholic Church and was also a member of the popular 1960s New Orleans band The Kingsman, bringing joy to many through his love of music. He had a love of football and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams — the New Orleans Saints, the Atlanta Falcons, Tulane, LSU, and UGA.
Above all else, Larry's greatest pride and legacy was his family. He was a devoted and loving husband to his beloved wife, Joanne Guichard, and a deeply proud father and grandfather. He loved family vacations and treasured time spent together, creating memories his family will carry forever. He was known for giving the very best advice, gently guiding his children and grandchildren through life with wisdom and love.
He is survived by his wife Joanne; his children Lawrence Joseph Guichard, III (Lee); Amy Guichard Burdette; Brian Gardner; Kelly Gardner; and Kimberly Gardner Knight; his six cherished grandchildren: Gabby Guichard, Lexi Guichard, Jacob Gardner, Max Knight, Ben Knight, and Charlie Burdette; his godchildren Tabitha Gavin and Lillie Gavin; and his four siblings, Janelle Guichard Maselunas, Suzanne Guichard McDaniel, Kenneth Guichard, and Deanne Guichard Raymond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Joseph Guichard, Sr. and Zorka Tadin Guichard.
Larry will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, his constant laughter, his kindness, and the joy he brought into every room. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and resting in God's presence.
Funeral services will be held on January 17, 2026, at Transfiguration Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
He will be deeply loved, profoundly missed, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew him.
