Avid reader, wife, mother, grandmother, and honorary morning crew Mayor, Lucile (Lucy) Louise Voeltner, 74, of Canton, GA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 23, 2023.
Lucy was born in Santa Ana, California in 1949 to Oakes and Jean Newcom. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years until she met her husband Mike in 1974. Excited to start their new life together, Mike and Lucy were married on October 19, 1974 where they lived in Fullerton, California for 31 years. She was active in her church as pianist and organist. She would often be found practicing piano at home where she filled the house with joy and worship.
Lucy and Mike couldn't wait to start a family on their own, and their children meant the world to them. Their first born son, Jeffrey, was born in 1976, and son Matthew born in 1979. Lucy enjoyed many family vacations in their camper traveling to various campgrounds and national parks in the U.S.
Mike and Lucy retired and moved to Georgia in 2005 where Lucy found a new crew to enjoy her morning coffee with; she would claim to have solved all of the world's problems with this group, fondly referred to as the BLTs (Becky, Lucy, and Teresa), aside many other friends along the way.
Throughout her life, Lucy remained constant and was a great wife, spiritual helpmate, and calming influence in times of trouble for her family. She was an avid game show fan and enjoyed sharpening her mind with crossword puzzles and word searches. Lucy was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed writing and texting her grandchildren often. There was not a birthday or Christmas card that didn't include an array of perfectly selected stickers or stamps to add a personal touch with each gift.
Lucy will always be remembered for her wit and the way she always remembered very specific details, from phone numbers to obscure dates. We couldn't have asked for a better wife, "mommy-dearest", grandma, and friend. Lucy's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Lucy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Michael Voeltner, sons Jeffrey and Matthew Voeltner, four grandchildren, Skylar, Ashley, Madison, and Max, and brother Dale and sister Jeannie.
