Margaret (Dewie) Dewart McGivney (Maiden: Hall), age 81, died on Friday, February 23, 2024, in Woodstock, Georgia.

From her birth in New York, on November 21, 1942, to her death on Friday, she loved being around people, always offering up a welcoming smile.

She was born to Margaret (Maiden: Gleason) and William Hall and was the second of three children. Dewie befriended many with her kindness and her desire to help with any situation she came across. She was generous and sincere. Dewie married her husband, Peter McGivney, in New York City in 1966. She lived in New York City, and then moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, then Woodstock, Ga. Left to honor Dewie and remember her love are her husband, Peter; daughter Stacey McGivney Bains and her son-in-law, John Dennis Bains. Dewie was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Patricia Hagadorn, and sister, Georgie Kathleen Riddle. Dewie will be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and friend.

Visitation will be held on Thursday February 29, 2024, from 4pm – 8pm at Lakeside Funeral Home at 121 Claremore Dr. Woodstock, Ga 30188.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 1, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church at 11330 Woodstock Rd. Roswell, Ga. 30075. The McGivney family would like to extend our gratitude to all who have reached out and sent their thoughts, prayers and condolences.
