Obituary

Her full name is Marilyn Louise Harvey Zachary Levins Baggett. And a life well lived deserves a memorial befitting such a larger than life woman. Marilyn Louise Zachary was born July 21 st , 1931 in St. Joseph, Missouri. The adopted daughter of John James and Hazel Zachary, Marilyn was raised by her aunt Ollie and Claude "Unkie" Harris. The couple was not related but, "they ran the boarding house daddy lived in when he landed in Chicago". They were the single greatest influence in her entire life. She grew up right behind Wrigley field, an independent, studious, and creative child. She loved seeing baseball legends at Wrigley, she loved drama (of course) and theatre, even appearing on radio episodes of One's Man Family. She loved learning so much that she literally never missed a day of school. And she loved to explore Chicago and often took the "L" by herself in order to do it.

She met Edward Levins at the University of Eastern Illinois and their courtship quickly turned to marriage and history pursued. Together they had five children; Kathleen, Charmaine, Candyce, Russell, and Mark. Her professional career included everything from being McDonald's dancing fry queen to law clerk for Gorham and Waldrep in Birmingham Alabama. And from swim coach at the Jewish Community Center to Party City cashier in Tampa. She was the funding for the first EVER McDonald's playground, the one on Montclair Rd in Birmingham.

Marilyn traveled the world with a zest for life that few could rival. And then, there was Disney. She loved Disney. She loved what Disney did for her family. Nothing could rival the love and pride she experienced seeing her family together and happy. Grammy is responsible for four generations of Disney fans.

She overcame everything life threw at her. Abandonment at two days old, Scarlet fever at age 13, drug and alcohol addiction, and the loss of not one but three of her children. She prayed every morning over coffee and cigarettes, just being grateful for the time she has had and admiring the little things. She religiously fed her wild birds and could find wonder in just gazing while driving. In the end, she went out on her own terms; watching Monk and smoking Misty 120's.

Marilyn is survived by many including her daughter Charmaine Wiley and son, Mark Levins. Her granddaughters are Courtney O'Brien, Angela Westphal, Stephanie Wiley, Morgan Gimple, and Marilyn Levins. Grandsons include Jason Golden, Christopher Wiley, Kenny and Kevin Wiley, and "Markee" Levins. Great Grandkids currently are Ellie Westphal, Jack O'Brien, Jude and Kathleen Golden, Keaton and Gulliver Wiley, and Finley Gimple (aka Puddin' Bear)
