Woodstock, GA- Mary Ellen (Johnson) Herring, 80, of Woodstock, GA, died peacefully in her home on May 2, 2025.

She was born in Charlotte, NC in 1944 to Horace and Jessie (Moody) Johnson. She attended Garinger High School and graduated from Harding High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Shirley Whitehead and Bobbie Suttle.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jim Herring, who carefully attended to her in the final months of her life. She is also survived by brother Jerry Johnson (wife Diane) of Fort Mill, SC, sons Jamie Herring (wife Nancy) of Reidsville, NC, and David Herring (wife Isabelle) of Milton, GA, grandchildren Victoria Herring, Troy Herring (wife Jo), Ivan Herring, and great-grandchildren Kenai and Zorya.

Mary Ellen was a master seamstress known for making high quality furnishings for her home and elaborate clothing for her children and then grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed deeply by her family and friends.
