Michael Marcus "Mike" Huddleston of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away at home in his sleep on August 13, 2023.
Michael was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on April 30, 1940. He attended Little Rock Central High School from 1954-1958, and then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1961. After his service, he worked for IBM before settling into a career at NCH Corporation (VP of National Chemsearch Division) from 1974-2008.
Michael is survived by his wife and best friend of 13 years Anna Brady; his brother James Huddleston (Marilyn) of Lawrence, Kansas; his sons Pat (Leigh Ann), Porter (Gayle), and Matthew (Heather); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and another on the way. Michael was preceded in death by his first wife Bettie Huddleston and his parents Pat and Madilen Huddleston.
An omnivorous reader, Mike gravitated to nonfiction more than fiction and never stopped learning and educating himself about the world around him. He enjoyed traveling in Singapore, bungee jumping in New Zealand, hiking through the Amazon jungle, scuba diving in the Florida Keys, parasailing in the Caribbean, skiing in Vail, competing in tennis and racquetball in Marietta, and running the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta.
He is especially remembered for his close relationship with his awesome brother Jim. For his leadership, selflessness and sacrifice through family crises and trials of all sorts. For lovingly championing the best in his children. And for his singular ability to endure adversity to the very end and hold course, even faced with the rare disease amyloidosis which took his life. In the end, his true passion was his family and friends. He could never get enough of us. And we didn't get enough of him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Michael on Thursday, August 31 at Lakeside Funeral Home in Woodstock. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service with Pastor T.J. Diamond officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
