Michael Warechowski IV, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving parents, on Monday, August 10 at 9:10am, after a heroic eight-year battle with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). His final moments were peaceful as his mother held him as he took his last breath. Michael was born on April 30, 2010 to parents Katie and Michael Warechowski III and was diagnosed with MLD just before his 2nd birthday. He lived for 8 1/2 years and defied all odds as he fought like a champion and brought strength, hope and smiles to all that knew him and followed his journey. Before he got sick and lost his ability to speak, his favorite phrase was "It's a beautiful day" and every day with Michael was just that…a beautiful day. Michael faced his battle with strength and courage that inspired all who knew his story. He was lovingly cared for by his parents (with help from his loving Aunt Kallie) who would have sacrificed anything to give him the best care and the most love every single day. Mikey knew this and so, he loved his Mom and Dad with fierce dedication. His family loves him dearly and cherishes the time they had with him for the gift that it was. It was such a gift.
Michael is survived by his devoted parents, Katie and Mike; maternal grandparents, Sally and Jerry Wilbanks, paternal grandparents Christine and John BaDour, and Michael Warechowski Jr. He was loved dearly by all of his Aunts, Uncles and many cousins. Michael was preceded by his maternal grandfather, Terry Miller, maternal grandparents, Peter and Anna Yost, paternal grandparents, Katherine and Michael Warechowski, and by his Aunt, Kristi West. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
