An Ohio native, Norman remained an enthusiastic fan of Ohio football throughout his life. He also enjoyed bowling and was a proud member of a local bowling league. In addition, Norman found joy in kayaking and spending time outdoors. He cherished his time with his beloved dog, Poppy, who was a constant companion on his adventures.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Joy Potter; his sons, Stephen Potter (wife Patty) of Canton, Ohio, and Vincent Potter (wife Becky) of Massillon, Ohio; his stepsons Carlton McKoy (wife Patti) of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Jon McKoy of Adairsville, Georgia.
