Paulee Springer, 94, a quietly stylish longtime resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on July 10, 2025, in Woodstock, Georgia.
Paulee was an avid bridge player and enjoyed crossword puzzles, mystery novels, martinis on the rocks with olives—and in later years, all things sweet. She was fortunate to find love twice. In 1951, she married Myron Scofield in Boston. Soon after, they moved to St. Petersburg, where Myron established his dental practice. They shared 27 years together before his passing in 1978.
In 1982, Paulee married Darrell Springer, a real estate developer and home builder. Together, they enjoyed 30 years of marriage, membership in the St. Petersburg Country Club, entertaining friends and family, and traveling in their retirement, until Darrell's death in 2012.
A lover of fashion, Paulee graduated from the Chamberlin School of Retailing and worked as a model, fashion show coordinator, and department store buyer for Maas Brothers. Later, she also worked as a wedding planner. A gracious hostess, she frequently entertained and loved a good party. She chaired fund-raising dinner dances to support local non-profits and charities.
She was an active member and President of the Stuart Society of the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts, participating in several art acquisition trips to New York and Europe with the museum's Collector's Circle. Paulee had a keen eye for design, and her St. Pete Beach home was featured in the Tampa Bay Times for its stylish decor. She loved being near the water, and she and Darrell were among the original homeowners at Dolphin Cay, near Eckerd College.
In 2021, Paulee moved to assisted living in Woodstock, Georgia, at the urging of her children. A fiercely independent woman who did not easily acknowledge her limitations, she initially resisted the change. With deep gratitude to her daughter-in-law Janaroi for her near-daily caregiving, Paulee gradually embraced her new surroundings—making friends, enjoying the on-site salon and spa, playing bingo, and attending cocktail hour at Holbrook Woodstock.
She is survived by her children, Kathryn Scofield (John Bullard) and Mark Scofield (Janaroi), Darrell's children, Gary Springer and Cathy Garrison, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Paulee will be remembered for her elegance, sense of style, and the warmth and joy she brought to those welcomed into her home.
