Peter "Pete" William Onuschak, 78, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 25, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, to Peter and Stella Onuschak, Pete was a man of deep faith, strength, and unwavering love for his family.
Pete is survived by his loving wife Geraldine "Gerry" Onuschak, his son Michael (Jenny) Onuschak, his daughter Tracy (Edan) Dalton, his brothers Thomas (Pauline) Onuschak and Alfred (Jeanie) Onuschak, his grandchildren Alexis (Jackson) Wood, Brandon Onuschak, and Sean Dalton, his great-granddaughter Scarlett Wood, and his great-grandson on the way.
Pete grew up in Shenandoah, PA, alongside his brothers, Alf and Tom. He graduated from Shenandoah Valley High School and attended Penn State before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. A man of discipline and dedication, Pete retired from the Air Force in 1974 after nearly eight years. He later enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with APAC-GA, retiring in 2007.
On April 8, 1967, Pete married the love of his life, Gerry, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Shenandoah, PA. Together they raised their children, Mike and Tracy.
Pete was a proud grandfather to Alexis, Brandon, and Sean, and a doting great-grandfather to Scarlett. He treasured every moment spent with his family, whether at holiday gatherings, sharing stories of his past, or enjoying a nice bottle of Silver Palm.
Pete's legacy is one of devotion—to his faith, his family, and his country. His kindness, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew him.
