Roger was a Woodstock native. Hard to find these days! He loved home life.

He just remodeled our home to include a large front porch equipped with rocking chairs and a porch swing which he enjoyed very much. He spent many hours on his swing (and a few naps) waving at anyone that came by. He enjoyed many hours just sitting and watching the wildlife and the water or driving his boat with his trusty sidekick, Bogie, and wife, Deborah. I'm not sure, but I believe Bogie was the love of his life. We had mandatory 3 pool games a night for over 20 years.

He was a 25-year master mason of Woodstock Lodge #246. He cared very deeply for his church Little River United Methodist. He attended there all his life. He spent many, many hours there keeping it going as a co-chair of the trustees for many years. He retired from the floor covering business in 2020 at the age of 70. He did this for over 30 years. One of his favorites was politics, and he never missed the view. He definitely knew what was going on.

Roger was much loved and will be truly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Long, his mother Odie Mae Long, daughter, Heather Long, Brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Julie Long. 2 step-children, 3 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his last project, replacing the over 60-year-old windows of the fellowship hall and education building of LRUMC.
