Ruby S. Lowry, born June 30, 1927, age 93, of Woodstock, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Thursday, morning, September 3, 2020.
Ruby was very active in her church, Little River Methodist Church, where she and her husband attended regularly throughout their marriage until Covid-19 hit.
Ruby was a very successful business woman and a pioneer in business helping to blaze a trail for all women in business. Ruby was a Right-Of-Way agent For the State of Georgia, worked for Cobb County her entire working career and purchased Right-Of-Way all over the state. Ernest Barrett was her first boss at Cobb County where Ruby actually set-up Cobb County, Georgia's Right-Of-Way Department. She retired from Cobb County after a lifetime of very successful service. She was also very proud of her real estate transactions which she conducted with her partner/brother-in-law, James W. Green. Ruby was good to everyone she knew and took pride in helping people with their businesses.
She was kind, organized and prepared as evidenced by her having planned and paid for her own funeral.
Ruby enjoyed spending time with her friends and family including her children, siblings, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Her nieces always proclaimed that Ruby enriched their childhoods greatly extending an open invitation to her home and pool and always inviting them on trips to the North Georgia mountains. She did the same with her grandchildren taking them on trips to her condo in Florida. Ruby enjoyed shopping, cooking, canning, driving through the countryside, music , dining out, visiting the North Georgia mountains, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and the beach. She was a class act, a perfectionist and still drove herself to get her hair and nails done. She was a tremendous role model in all facets of life. She is deeply loved and respected by her family, friends and coworkers alike and will be greatly missed.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, H.B. and Hattie Spence, her daughter, "Sissy" Veronica Benson, siblings, Robert, Elip, Minnie, Junior, Joanne, Donald and Floyd.
