Russell "Russ" Craig Policky of Holly Springs, GA passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, surrounded by and blanketed with the love of his family. Russ could find a solution for almost any problem, but he did not get a chance to 'fix' his aggressive complications that arose from a recent Lymphoma diagnosis.
Russ was born to Les & Theresa Policky in Arlington, Texas on December 19, 1968. Not long after, their growing family returned to Nebraska. Russ attended Pius X High School in Lincoln until his family moved to Georgia, where he graduated from Peachtree High School in 1987. Following high school, Russ was accepted to both the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech but chose to follow his heart (and probably the party), to Florida State University. Russ earned his degree and established his unconditional allegiance to favorite college football team, the FSU Seminoles. He bled garnet and gold!
Following his years at FSU, Russ moved back to Atlanta and began his career in the restaurant industry where he met his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Whitney in 1998 and married in 2002. Russ and Liz built a beautiful life of 26 years together filled with so much love, fun and adventure. He was committed to giving Liz and his two daughters Whitney and Kayla every opportunity to live life to their fullest and run with them as they chase after their dreams. He was their biggest cheerleader!
Russ was a big personality and to those who knew him we can all agree that he leaves a legacy of selflessness and love. Here are a few words we thought of to encapsulate all that Russ was:
F un, L oyal, O ne of a kind, R eliable, I nventive, D ebater, A mazing dad, husband, son, brother, uncle & friend…
S assily sarcastic, T rustworthy, A ctive, T echie, E nergetic…woooo!
Russ is survived by his wife, Liz; children, Whitney and Kayla; parents Les and Theresa; sisters, Anne Reed (Matthew) and Jenny Policky; cousin-sister, Julie Kendall; nephews and nieces, Spencer (Kalee), Taylor, Madison, Reagan, Payton, Jessie, Coast, Jordan and Andie along with friends and loved ones who will feel his absence deeply. Russ is preceded in death and welcomed into Heaven by his brother, Brian Policky (2001).
Visitation will be held on March 5, 2025, from 2–4pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 4pm at Lakeside Funeral Home, 121 Claremore Dr., Woodstock GA 30188. A private Celebration of Life reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cherokee Youth Foundation ( https://www.cherokeeyf.org/cyfdonate ), an organization that reflects Russ's passion for the game of soccer and providing an opportunity for every kid to play the sport of their choice.
