Obituary

Shirley Ann Stallings was born in Rosalie, Alabama to her loving parents Early Arvil and Eula Ivey Stallings on January 22nd, 1936, and lived to a ripe old age of 90. She traveled to her heavenly home on May 28th, 2026.

At an early age her family moved to Trenton, Georgia where she grew up with her 2 brothers Jim and Jack, and her 2 sisters Hazel and Virginia. Her childhood was filled with gardening, canning, and church life. Early on she realized that whoever prepared the meals spent less time working in the fields, so she was determined to be the best cook in the family- a skill that carried on throughout her life.

She attended Snead College in Boaz, Alabama and finished at Georgia State University. She went on to complete a full teaching career, later retiring from the Cherokee County School District in Georgia.

Shirley was first married to Louis Crisp, and they had three wonderful children: Jada (Gary), Derrick (Doreen), and Blake (Leisa). She later married John Blevins and moved the family to Woodstock, Georgia.

Her greatest joy was being a grandmother- providing her 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with countless pancake breakfasts. Her garden was meticulously maintained and well known for its blueberries, figs, green beans, okra, corn, and grapes. She also enjoyed singing in the choir at First Baptist Church Woodstock and spending winters at her second home in Florida.

Her final resting place will be at New Home Baptist Church in Trenton, Georgia- we are sure she was greeted by her parents, sisters, and granddaughter Melea Ivey Brookshire, who preceded her in death.
